Maeve Buchanan grew up on the Canadian prairies in a family who loved books. As a girl, she spent much of her time reading and dreaming up stories, often illustrating the stories as she went. As a adult, Maeve studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design and then worked at a wide variety of jobs, including graphic arts, building playgrounds in the Arctic, working as an historical interpreter and managing marketing for a major bookstore chain.
Maeve completed a degree in English Literature and Medieval Studies at the University of Victoria. This was followed by three years of medieval manuscript research at the University of Glasgow, Scotland and extensive travelling throughout the British Isles. Returning to Canada from Britain, Maeve came back to her prairie roots by settling in Edmonton, Alberta.
After joining the Romance Writers of America (Calgary chapter), Maeve’s literary talents found a new home in the Romance genre, and she hasn’t looked back since!
Maeve’s current work, Trick of the Heart, is an adult contemporary western romance set during the spectacular Calgary Stampede. She is currently working on another adult contemporary romance and planning future books set in the regency and medieval periods.
Travelling is one of Maeve’s passions. She has travelled widely in Canada and Britain as well as spending time in Paris and her favorite getaway, the Island of Maui in Hawaii.
